Trafalgar Day at The Butcher’s Arms 2005
This year marked the two hundredth anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar, when Nelson’s fleet fought, and overcame, a combined French & Spanish fleet. To celebrate the event, Andrew, the landlord of The Butcher’s Arms, asked us to put on a show of British cars on the Sunday.
Steve Marran and Dave Espley hit the phones and managed to get promises to attend, and advertised the event at a couple of shows. The event then had around twenty five cars on show at any one time, with around a total of thirty, including those which left early and those arriving late. We had the club stand and gazebo on show too, and we seemed to be quite popular with those going in and out of the pub. The arrival of The West Lances MG Club was a good sight.
However, the event was a bit of an anti-climax as we thought that there would be other things going on, but we were the only attraction: and the landlord and family had gone on holiday. Still, at least he had arranged for us to have a 25% discount on food.
Thanks to all who showed.
